STEPS

•  Open google.com, go to IMAGES or any other search engine in your browser.

STEPS

• Open the GOOGLE DOCS.
• Go to INSERT TAB and CHOOSE SPECIAL CHARACTERS.

• The dialog box named INSERT SPECIAL CHARACTERS will open.
• Have a look at the picture below.
• On the right , enter the symbol name DIVISION in the dedicated search field.
• The results will enlist on the left.

• Click the symbol and it’ll be inserted.

5. INSERT DIVISION SYMBOL IN GOOGLE DOCS USING EQUATION SYMBOLS

We already learnt to insert a DIVISION SYMBOL using the google , image and symbol dialog box.

As division is a mathematical symbol, we have one more option known as EQUATION SYMBOLS from where we can choose our symbol.

FOLLOW THE STEPS TO INSERT DIVISION/ DIVIDE BY SYMBOL USING THE EQUATION OPTION

• Open the GOOGLE DOCS and open a new document.
• Go to INSERT TAB and choose EQUATION OPTION as shown in the picture below.

• As we click the EQUATIONS OPTION, a new EQUATION TOOLBAR will appear as shown in the picture below.
• Click on NEW EQUATION.
• As we click NEW EQUATION, other options will be activated.

• Click the second option containing the basic operators.
• Click on the division symbol and it’ll be inserted in the document.

6. INSERT SQUARE ROOT SYMBOL SMARTLY USING AUTO CORRECT / SUBSTITUTION OPTION

Have you ever tried to type (c) in GOOGLE DOCS??

If you haven’t tried, try it right now. You would find that it’ll get converted into © symbol.

It happens because of the SUBSTITUTION SETTINGS in the GOOGLE DOCS.

Sometimes this autocorrect option can be irritating, but we can make use of this option to insert DIVISION symbol directly just by entering any code such as (div) or divi() or anything which you think you are not going to use as a text in your document.

• We can try this by just typing the word we fixed for substitution / auto correct i.e. divi() and it’ll be converted into DIVISION SYMBOL as shown in the picture below.

7.INSERT DIVISION SYMBOL IN GOOGLE DOCS USING KEYBOARD

There is another very fast method of inserting any character using the KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS.

We can make use of CHARACTER or ALT code to insert the division symbol.

USING CHARACTER CODE:

The method is to press ALT and press the CHARACTER CODE WHILE THE ALT KEY IS PRESSED

THE ALT CODE FOR THE DIVISION / DIVIDE BY SYMBOL IS 0247.
